Fox Sports Girl Of The Week: Danielle

-1

Fox Sports Girl of the Week Danielle says for the Diamondbacks (2.5 game N.L. West) to hold off the Dodgers in the second-half, they can?t look in the rearview mirror.

?Worrying about another team is counterproductive. I?m not worried about the Dodgers,? she says. ?I won?t waste time worrying about another team.?

Danielle, a former Arizona Cardinals cheerleader who once jumped in the Chase Field pool after the D-Backs won the 2011 N.L. West title, just might get another chance to go for a swim.? The D-Backs have a MVP candidate in the lineup (Paul Goldschmidt) and a 13-1 Cy Young candidate (Patrick Corbin) who can carry a team in September.

Follow Danielle through rest of the baseball season on?Facebook and Twitter.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Pat Tillman. As a FOX Sports Arizona Girl (and fellow Sun Devil), I?ve participated multiple times in Pat?s Run and have seen his inspiration touch the lives of countless people.

What is your fondest sports memory?

Being part of the 2008 Arizona Cardinals/Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl game as a Cardinals cheerleader. The excitement leading up to game was incredible and energy on the field that night was incomparable.? It was a painful loss but a fond memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Fox Sports Girl Of The Week: Danielle

What sport would you play professionally if you could, and why?

I would play football if I had the opportunity! It?s my favorite sport and I?ve always enjoyed watching it. I?d savor the chance to line up against fierce competition and make plays as a receiver or tight end!

What?s your best Diamondbacks memory?

When the D-Backs clinched the National League West title in 2011 and went for a celebratory jump & swim in the pool at Chase Field. They had such a great season that year and to see and feel not only their energy and excitement, but the amazing atmosphere the fans created, is what us fans look forward to!

What?s the best assignment you?ve worked as a Fox Sports Girl?

Hands down, traveling to Germany and U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr as part of FOX Sports ?Spring Training to the Troops? effort this past February. Along with some other FOX Sports Girls, current MLB players, MLB legends and FOX baseball announcers, we participated in physical training, kids camps and shared special moments with our troops. To bring a smile to the faces of the brave men and women ? and their families ? who sacrifice their lives for our country was truly amazing.

I read that you were a Cardinals cheerleader. Why don?t more baseball teams have cheerleaders?

When it comes to the lack of cheerleaders in baseball I think it comes down to tradition. Maintaining the traditions of a sport is important and I feel like there isn?t a rich tradition with cheerleaders in baseball. The D-backs ?Rally Backs? do a great job of getting fans involved and creating more excitement at Chase Field. Baseball is rich in traditions, but cheerleading may not be one.

Ever go in the Chase Field swimming pool?

We have shot promos there which was a lot of fun, but only dipped our feet in the water! Hopefully this season, and especially during the Arizona summer heat, I?ll get a chance to experience a game in the pool!

The D-backs are 2.5 games ahead of the Dodgers. Are you the least bit worried about Magic Johnson?s team heading into the 2nd half of the season?

Worrying about another team is counterproductive. I?m not worried about the Dodgers. Even with all their injuries, the D-backs are having a great season, are in first place and will continue to play well after the All-Star break. I won?t waste time worrying about another team, the D-Backs have my full support and attention!

What D-backs player is a must-follow on Twitter? Why?

Patrick Corbin (@PatrickCorbin11) ? have you seen him pitch? He?s 11-1 with a 2.35 ERA by the way? He?s very active on Twitter and always keeps the fans updated. Check the hashtag #corbin46nyc for all tweets from him, his family and fans while he was in New York for the All-Star Game!

I?ve been on a diet, but planning to attend a game at Chase. What should I eat at the ballpark to end this nonsense for a night?

Chase Field has the best Macaroni & Cheese hotdog? Yes, a Macaroni & Cheese hotdog. It?s perfect for a cheat night!
