What Jesse Jackson Jr.?s move to Mayo Clinic could mean

CHICAGO (AP) ? Jesse Jackson Jr.'s transfer to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota could indicate a complicating physical illness arose during the Illinois congressman's treatment for depression, several experts in psychiatric care said Saturday.

The Chicago Democrat has been on a secretive leave of absence for nearly seven weeks, during which his office has released only occasional snippets of information, including that he was undergoing treatment for a "mood disorder" at an undisclosed location.

On Friday, the Mayo Clinic distributed a statement from the congressman that said he had been transferred there for "extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and gastrointestinal issues." The clinic would not release more information Saturday.

John Anderson, of the Associates in Psychiatry and Psychology in southeastern Minnesota, said people receiving psychiatric care are often transferred to the Mayo Clinic when a physical illness develops because both can be treated there.

"Mayo does an excellent job in terms of combining those, so they can treat what's essentially a dual diagnosis," he said.

He noted specifically that Mayo Clinic has a highly rated gastrointestinal department as well as a free-standing inpatient psychiatric unit.

Jackson underwent a procedure in 2004 to help him lose weight that involves removing part of the stomach and rearranging the intestine. Phone messages left Saturday for Jackson's spokesman weren't immediately returned.

Friday's statement was the first to mention a gastrointestinal illness, and it was not known whether that was related to his depression or an entirely separate medical issue.

The statement did not disclose where the longtime Chicago congressman, the son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, had been staying previously.

He went on leave June 10, though his office didn't disclose it until weeks later and has been mum on details ever since. Initially, his office said Jackson was being treated for exhaustion. But his staff later said Jackson's condition was more serious and required inpatient medical treatment. They also said Jackson has been grappling with emotional issues.

Under mounting pressure from his colleagues and constituents, his office released a statement last month from his unnamed doctor saying Jackson was receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential treatment facility for "a mood disorder."

The timing of his medical leave has raised questions, in part because Jackson is facing an ethics investigation in the U.S. House connected to imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

The House Ethics Committee is investigating allegations that Jackson was involved in discussions about raising money for Blagojevich's campaign in exchange for the then-governor appointing him to President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat. Blagojevich is serving a 14-year prison sentence for corruption.

Jackson was not charged and has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

Jackson faces Republican and independent candidates in November, though he's widely expected to win re-election. He first won office in a 1995 special election and has easily won each race since. His district includes parts of Chicago and some suburbs.

Amazon profit margin rises as new businesses grow

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc reported quarterly results on Thursday that showed the growth of new businesses is boosting the profit margins of the world's largest Internet retailer.

Shares of the company rose 1.6 percent to $223.59 in after-hours trading.

Second-quarter revenue was $12.83 billion, up 29 percent from a year earlier.

Amazon's product revenue, which includes its traditional online retail business, grew 25 percent to $10.79 billion.

Amazon's services revenue, which includes its online marketplace for third-party merchants and its cloud computing business Amazon Web Services, surged 57 percent to $2.04 billion.

These newer businesses are more profitable than Amazon's retail operations, so as they become a larger part of the company, overall profit margins grow.

Amazon's gross profit margin was 26.1 percent in the second quarter, up from 24.1 percent a year earlier, according to Scott Tilghman, an analyst at Caris & Co.

"There was tremendous growth in Amazon's higher-margin services," Tilghman said. "I can't find a quarter in the past nine years when Amazon's gross margin was over 26 percent."

FORECAST, SPENDING

Net income was $7 million, or one cent per share, versus $191 million, or 41 cents a share, a year earlier, the company said.

Amazon forecast third-quarter revenue of $12.9 billion to $14.3 billion. Analysts were forecasting $14.1 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Amazon also forecast a third-quarter operating loss of $50 million to $350 million. Excluding stock-based compensation and other items, the forecast was between a loss of $75 million and a profit of $225 million.

Analysts at JP Morgan, Raymond James and Caris & Co were looking for third-quarter operating profit of $258 million, $280 million and $388 million respectively. Those forecasts excluded stock-based compensation and other items.

"The real story here is around guidance - it was a little bit light from what people were expecting and the bottom line much lower than what people would have expected," said Needham and Co analyst Kerry Rice.

"They're going to spend to build the infrastructure and capacity to deliver the products and services that they feel the consumer wants," he added. "I don't know that we can say they are investing or spending too much. It's certainly more than people expected."

Congress honors victims of Colorado massacre

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Congress has adopted a resolution honoring the Colorado theater shooting victims and the first responders in Aurora.

The House and Senate, on a voice vote Thursday, passed a resolution that recognizes individuals in the theater who selflessly sought to aid and protect others.

The resolution offered condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of the 12 who died. It expressed hope for the rapid and complete recovery of the wounded.

The House also applauded the hundreds of local, state and federal officials who offered support and honored the city of Aurora and the state of Colorado for their resilience in the face of adversity.

Fifty-eight people were wounded in the shooting.

Coe to run for top athletics job: report

London Olympics organiser Sebastian Coe will run to become the next president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the Times reported on Wednesday.

The double gold medalist, now chairman of the London Olympic Organising Committee, told the paper he wanted to take over the presidency after elections in 2015.

"I'd be happy to run my sport and that is the first time I've given that answer," he said. "I'm ready. I know how to do this. But we have a great president in the post, so it would be when he stands down."

He faces competition from Ukraine pole-vault legend Sergei Bubka, who is also expected to run when current president Lamine Diack steps down in three-years time.

Both men are IAAF vice-presidents and victory in the presidential race would hand the winner coveted membership of the International Olympic Committee.

The controversial exoplanet Gliese 581g is the best candidate to host life beyond our own solar system, according to a new ranking of potentially habitable alien worlds.

Gliese 581g shot to the top of the list ? which was published Thursday (July 19) by researchers at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo?s Planetary Habitability Laboratory (PHL) ? after a new study marshaled support for its long-debated existence.

The exoplanet was discovered in September 2010, but other astronomers began casting doubt on its existence just weeks later. Now Gliese 581g's discoverers have rebutted their critics' charges in a new paper, and have done so effectively enough to get the PHL onboard.

Here's a brief rundown of the PHL's top five habitable alien planets:

Gliese 581g
This rocky world ? if it does indeed exist ? is just 20 light-years away from our solar system. It's likely two to three times as massive as Earth and zips around its parent star, the red dwarf Gliese 581, every 30 days or so. [Gallery: The Strangest Alien Planets]

This orbit places the planet squarely in the star's "habitable zone" ? that just-right range of distances where liquid water, and perhaps life as we know it, could exist.

Gliese 581g has at least four, and possibly five, planetary neighbors. The team that spotted Gliese 581g also detected another planet, known as 581f, circling much farther away from the star. But scientists are still arguing about that world's existence, too.

Gliese 667Cc
Gliese 667Cc, which was discovered in February 2012 by the same core team that spotted Gliese 581g, orbits a red dwarf 22 light-years away, in the constellation Scorpius (The Scorpion).

The alien world is a so-called "super Earth" that's at least 4.5 times as massive as our planet, and it completes an orbit every 28 days. At least one other planet resides in the 667C system.

Gliese 667Cc's parent star is part of a triple-star system, so the planet's night sky would probably be a sight to behold.

Kepler-22b
Kepler-22b was spotted by NASA's planet-hunting Kepler space telescope, which has detected more than 2,300 potential exoplanets since its March 2009 launch. Only a small number have been confirmed so far, but the vast majority should end up being the real deal, researchers have said.

Kepler-22b, whose discovery was announced in December 2011, is a super Earth about 2.4 times as wide as our planet. If the greenhouse effect operates on Kepler-22b like it does on Earth, the alien world would have an average surface temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius), researchers have said.

The exoplanet is found about 600 light-years away, and it orbits a star very much like our own sun.

HD 85512b
HD 85512b is another super Earth, one that's thought to be about 3.6 times as massive as our planet. The alien world is found about 35 light-years from us, in the direction of the constellation Vela (The Sail).

Astronomers announced the discovery of HD 85512b ? and about 50 other alien planets spotted by the HARPS spectrograph on a telescope in Chile ? in September 2011. The planet's estimated average surface temperature is 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius).

Gliese 581d
This world, which is about seven times as massive as Earth, orbits a bit farther out than its planetary sibling Gliese 581g.

Some good news for local automotive manufacturing: Nissan has shipped the first batch of its Australian-made Leaf electric vehicle components to Japan this week.

Manufactured at the Nissan Casting Australia Plant in Dandenong, Victoria, the components include the inverter case, inverter water jacket and water jacket cover for the Leaf and related EVs.

The news follows an announcement in 2011 that Nissan Australia would produce international components for the Leaf, along with accessories for the brand's Australian-delivered 4WDs and passenger cars.

?Everyone at Nissan Australia is excited that we are playing such a tangible role in the production of zero emission electric vehicles,? Nissan Australia boss Bill Peffer said.

?To see ?Job Number One? for the electric vehicle parts production finished and exported is a landmark moment for the Nissan Casting Plant."

Peffer added that the new electric vehicle components are part of more than two million components and accessories produced at the Dandenong plant annually.

The Leaf EV components use new casting technologies developed in Victoria by the CSIRO and the Centre for Applied Special Technology (CAST) Co-operative Research Centre (CRC).

The plant's global manufacturing arrangement with Nissan headquarters in Japan is expected to produce around $160 million in export revenue.

The agreement was secured with support from the Federal Green Car Innovation Fund, along with funding from the Victorian Government's Business Assistance Grant.

Nissan itself plans to invest a total of $21 million in the manufacturing of electric vehicle components at Dandenong.

Chinese oil company CNOOC Ltd. is confident its US$15.1-billion bid for Nexen Inc. provides a ?net benefit? to Canada because the deal helps accelerate resource development and increases job creation, making it aligned with Canadian government goals, the company?s two top executives said Monday.

Li Fanrong, president and CEO of the Beijing-based, state controlled Chinese oil company, and Fang Zhi, president of CNOOC International Ltd., who negotiated the transaction, said in an interview in Calgary their company has operated in Canada since 2005 and understands how to behave in a market-driven economy.

China?s largest offshore oil and gas explorer is paying US$27.50 for each common share, a premium of 61% to Calgary-based Nexen?s closing price on July 20, according to its statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange Monday. Nexen?s board recommended the deal to its shareholders.

In early trading, shares of the company were up $9.23 or more than 53% to $26.53 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Nexen will give CNOOC assets in Canada, the U.K., West Africa and the Gulf of Mexico that produced 207,000 barrels a day in the second quarter, boosting the Chinese company?s output by about 20%. The deal is a second attempt to buy a large North American oil and gas producer after political opposition blocked the acquisition of Unocal Corp. in 2005.

In a conference call with the media, CNOOC CEO Li Fanrong said there have not yet been discussions with the federal government about the takeover.

Industry Canada confirmed Monday it and the federal Competition Bureau will review the deal.? Ottawa can review and block any foreign investments worth more than $330-million if it thinks a deal is not in Canada?s best interests.

?CNOOC has indicated that it will be filing an application for review under the [Investment Canada] Act shortly,? Industry Minister Christian Paradis said in a statement. ?Where an investment is subject to review under the Act, my approval is required prior to implementation. I approve applications where I am satisfied that a proposed investment is likely to be of net benefit to Canada.?

Mr. Li said CNOOC wants to purchase Nexen because of its excellent assets and highest calibre employees.

CNOOC plans to continue and likely expand Nexen?s capital spending plans.

?We are in Canada to invest, to be a good employer, and to continue Nexen?s commitments to the environment and communities,? Mr. Li said.

CNOOC noted that it intends to keep Nexen?s existing management and staff. But Nexen interim CEO Kevin Reinhart said his future with the company is a matter of future discussion.

Mr. Reinhart said the offer provides Nexen shareholders with ?significant and immediate value.? The offer price represents a 61% premium over Friday?s closing price.

For employees, the offer opens new doors and new opportunities, he said.

CNOOC will establish in Calgary one of its international headquarters and, in addition to Nexen?s current operations, run an additional $8-billion of its North American and Central American assets.

Coinciding with the transaction, CNOOC will seek to list its shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange, in addition to existing listings in Hong Kong and New York.

Analysts praised CNOOC?s strategy.

?CNOOC did a nice job in adding oil reserves at less than US$20 a barrel,? said Shi Yan, a Shanghai-based energy analyst at UOB-Kay Hian Ltd. ?It?s really a good time to buy assets while crude prices are low and energy firms shed values in stock markets.?

CNOOC has only nine years worth of reserves based on its current production ? one of the lowest ratios among major oil companies worldwide ? and said the deal would increase its proven reserves by 30%.

?CNOOC has been seeking overseas acquisitions, as the domestic reserves are limited. But there has been many limits, things like foreign companies [being] reluctant to sell, price too high. This deal would be quite a success,? said Yan Shi, oil analyst at brokerage UOB Kay Hian in Shanghai.

The move was quickly followed by another Chinese move on Canadian oil assets, as Sinopec Corp said it would buy 49% of Talisman Energy?s UK unit for US$1.5-billion.

CNOOC will offer to buy Nexen?s prefered shares and the Canadian company?s debt of US$4.3-billion will remain in place, the statment said. Cnooc will pay for the acquisiion using existing cash funds and external financing.

?The acquisition of Nexen will expand the group?s oversea business and resource base in order to deliver long-term sustainable growth,? CNOOC said in the statement. ?Nexen will complement the group?s large offshore production footprint in China.?

The Chinese company is paying 8.84 times earnings before interest and tax for Nexen, compared with the median of 33.06 of 10 comparable deals, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The Beijing-based company will add 900 million barrels of oil equivalent reserves at US$19.94 per barrel through the deal, according to a document posted to the company?s website.

CNOOC plans to boost output by as much as 2.7% this year to the equivalent of as much as 340 million barrels of oil. CNOOC lost production from its largest offshore oilfield in the first quarter after the site was temporarily shut down.

Nexen has faced numerous challenges over the past few years, most recently the troubled launch of its Long Lake oilsands project in northern Alberta. The project has yet to come close to its design capacity of 72,000 barrels of bitumen per day due to a number of operational glitches.

In January, Nexen announced a major management shakeup, with Marvin Romanow leaving his post as CEO and Gary Nieuwenburg stepping down as the executive vice-president of the company?s Canadian operations.

Reinhart was previously the company?s chief financial officer.

Nexen?s original partner at Long Lake, Opti Canada, filed for court protection from creditors last summer and was later acquired by CNOOC for US$2.1 billion.

The deals in Canada have not yet awakened the political opposition that killed CNOOC?S US$18.5-billion Unocal bid.

Ottawa most noticeably exercised that right in 2010 when it blocked Anglo-Australian miner BHP Billiton?s US$39 billion hostile takeover of Potash Corp, the world?s top fertilzer producer.

Ottawa considers six factors when examining such deals. They include the effect on employment and resource processing in Canada, the degree of participation by Canadians in the Canadian business, the effect of the investment on competition in Canada and the contribution of the investment to Canada?s ability to compete in world markets.

The Chinese company has made several other investments in Canadian companies over the past seven years, including buying stakes in MEG Energy Inc. and a 60% investment in Northern Cross (Yukon) Ltd.

Canada?s oilsands has been a hive of M&A activity as major international oil companies look to get a foothold in the world?s third largest oil reserves.

has a significant contribution towards lifetime risk of developing skin cancer².

Outdoor workers
It is estimated that 34,000 non-melanoma skin cancers and 200 melanomas are caused by sun exposure in the workplace each year. ³ Spending large amounts of time outside during peak ultraviolet radiation periods, over a long length of time, increases the risk of developing skin cancer.

To reduce your risk of skin cancer, protect yourself in 5 ways:

1. Seek shade
2. Put on a broad-brimmed hat that shades your face, neck and ears
3. Wear sun protective clothing that covers as much of your body as possible. Long sleeved shirts with a collar, and longer style pants or skirts are good for sun protection. Fabric of clothing needs to have a tight weave and be darker in colour to increase your protection from ultraviolet radiation
4. Wear wrap-around sunglasses
5. Apply SPF30+ broad spectrum water resistant sunscreen liberally to clean dry skin, at least twenty minutes before being exposed to the sun, and reapply at least every two hours when outdoors

Also, avoid going outdoors unprotected between 10am-2pm (11am ? 3pm during daylight saving), as this is when ultraviolet radiation is the strongest.

Warner Bros. struggles with Colo. shooting

NEW YORK (AP) ? The movie industry grappled Friday with the deadly Colorado shooting at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises," as one of the most anticipated films in years became enmeshed with a massacre.

The film's director, Christopher Nolan, speaking for the cast and crew, expressed their "profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy," lamenting the violence brought into the cinema, where moviegoers had gathered for what was supposed to be a celebratory opening night.

"I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime," said Nolan. "The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me."

The shooting, which killed 12 and left nearly 60 injured in an Aurora, Colo., movie theater, reverberated through Hollywood and upended carefully laid plans for the global release of "The Dark Knight Rises." Warner Bros. quickly canceled a premiere planned for Paris and canceled press interviews in France.

Warner Bros.. rushed to react to the tragedy, saying in a statement that it extended "our prayers and deepest sympathies to the victims, their loved ones and those affected by this tragedy." Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros., said he had been up since 4 a.m. making calls.

"Everybody is very saddened by the event. We were obviously looking for a very happy occasion for us," Fellman said. "It's a difficult way to begin. We're just more concerned now with the well-being of those that were injured, of course."

Warner Bros. had no further comment on whether screenings might be canceled or precautions taken. The studio did take the unprecedented step of delaying its reporting of eagerly awaited weekend box office figures for "Dark Knight" from Sunday to Monday "out of respect for the victims and their families."

Warner Bros. also moved to pull trailers for its upcoming movie "Gangster Squad" from showings of "The Dark Knight Rises." The trailer of the film, which stars Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling in a ruthless war between '40s Los Angeles police and the mob, includes a scene of mobsters firing into a movie theater from behind the screen.

A person familiar with what was shown at the Aurora theater said the trailer did not play there. The person did not want to be identified because the person was not authorized to speak on the matter.

Cinemark Holdings Inc., the chain that owns the theater where the shooting happened, said it was working closely with local law enforcement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and loved ones, our employees, and the Aurora community," the company said.

Movie theaters around the country continued Friday showings of the film as planned, though some were stepping up security and conducting bag searches. New York police commissioner Raymond Kelly said the city was providing extra security in New York theaters playing "The Dark Knight Rises" ''as a precaution against copycats and to raise the comfort levels among movie patrons."

In the wake of the shooting, "The Dark Knight Rises" and the earlier Batman films, with their dark themes and emphasis on terrorism, were sure to be heavily scrutinized. The practice of midnight screenings for eagerly anticipated blockbusters, too, could come into question.

Kelly said that the suspected gunman, James Holmes, had his hair painted red and identified himself to authorities saying he was the Joker. Heath Ledger played the Joker in the previous Batman installment, "The Dark Knight," although his hair was colored green. Ledger died in 2008 from a toxic combination of prescription drugs before the film was released.

"I don't know if James Holmes cared deeply about Batman," film critic Roger Ebert wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times. "I suspect he cared deeply about seeing himself on the news."

The National Association of Theatre Owners issued a statement offering their "hearts and prayers" to the victims. The association said, "Guest safety is, and will continue to be a priority for theater owners," adding that the group would work closely with law enforcement and review security procedures.

"We share the shock and sadness of everyone in the motion picture community at the news of this terrible event," said former Sen. Chris Dodd, chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America. "We extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to the victims, their loved ones and all those affected by this tragedy."

"The Dark Knight Rises" had expectations of being one of the biggest weekend openings ever. Its midnight screenings earned $30.6 million, Warner Bros. said Friday. That's the second-best midnight opening ever, behind $43.5 million for the "Harry Potter" finale. "The Dark Knight" earned a then-record $158.4 million in its first three days, including $18.5 million from midnight screenings.

The PG-13 film played in 3,825 theaters domestically in the midnight screenings, expanding to 4,404 cinemas nationwide Friday. Many showings on the weekend were sold out in advance.

Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for Hollywood.com who specializes in box office, declined to speculate on an effect the tragedy might have on the film over the weekend, saying it was too soon to estimate. But some moviegoers were already rethinking their plans.

Christine Cooley, who works for the University of Florida at a campus facility near Tampa, Fla., said she and her 15-year-old daughter were stunned by the TV coverage of the shooting Friday morning.

"Her immediate reaction was 'I'm never going to the movie theater again. Why should I go somewhere where I'm looking over my shoulder worrying that someone is going to come in and harm us when I can wait six months and watch it in the safety of my own home?'"

Cooley said she tried to explain to her daughter that it was an isolated incident, "but I see where she's coming from. Why put yourself in harm's way?"

Others were undeterred.

"Just seem like another day at the movies," said Jimmie Baker, 40, of Harlem, N.Y., at a theater in Times Square.

Andrew Bross, 22, of Livingston, N.J., returned Friday to watch "The Dark Knight Rises" for the second time in 12 hours.

"I go to the movies every week," he said. "I'm going to keep going. I'm not going to let it stop me one bit."

Damon Lindelof, the co-creator of "Lost," said he was going to see the film Friday night and suggested a modest tribute: a minute of silence as the end credit roll.

'Do Us a Flavor': Lay's Launches $1 Million Chip ... - Yahoo! Finance

Lay's potato chips is calling on all Americans to help create its next chip flavor in celebration of its 75^th anniversary next year.

And there's more.

The creator of the winning chip will win a whopping $1 million dollars or 1% of the chip's 2013 net sales (whichever turns out to be more) from PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division. The two runners up will win $50,000 in prize money.

To kick-start the "Do Us a Flavor" contest, Lay's built its first-ever Lay's brand flavor popup store in the middle of New York's Time Square. The Daily Ticker was on site to interview the chief marketing officer of Frito-Lay North America, Anindita Mukherjee, about the $13 billion brand's largest marketing campaign to date.

"Today consumers want to have their voices heard," she said. "They want to have their hand in where a brand goes, what a flavor is for a brand, what direction it goes, they want to have a say."

Lay's, the world's largest food brand, is also teaming up with Facebook to help with the submission process. Facebook has changed the "Like" button to "I'd Eat That" exclusively for this contest to encourage more friend interactions and "flavor showdowns" among the contestants.

The "Do Us a Flavor" contest is a first in the United States but has already been a hit across the globe in more than 14 countries, resulting in a number of really wacky chip flavors including: Chilli & Chocolate, Caesar Salad, Late Night Kebob and even Cajun Squirrel. These contests have generated more than 8 million chip flavor ideas globally.

To generate excitement for the U.S. contest, Lay's has hired actress and restaurateur Eva Longoria and Iron Chef Michael Symon. Along with other food experts, the pair will help narrow down the submissions to three finalists.

After the judges chose the winning submission, Lay's will have a trove of data on what chip flavors are favored by the majority of Americans.

"To me, the best part about the contest is that you don't have to be a foodie, chef or flavor expert to enter," said Eva Longoria in a press release. "You just have to trust your taste buds. If you're passionate about a flavor, likely there are others who agree."

Submissions can be made on Lay's Facebook page through October 6, 2012. Interested applicants will be asked to provide their name, flavor name, up to three possible ingredients and a 140-character description or inspiration for their flavor.

Nokia gave us a hint of Nokia Drive 3.0's commuter-friendly additions all the way back at Mobile World Congress in February. It's been quite the wait, but the update is at last lurking in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Although developed at the same time as Google Now, the Drive update will feel like a small slice of Android 4.1 for Lumia owners through its predictive routing: it can learn when you leave for work and how driving habits will affect the trip, giving a heads-up about traffic jams before you turn the ignition. Windows Phone reasserts itself through the option of pinning favorite destinations as tiles on the home screen, and an automatic switch between day and night modes is just as new. Drive's My Commute feature will initially work only in the US, but it should be available within the next day or two for any Lumia owner -- so those being denied Windows Phone 8 still won't have any justification for being late to the office.
